Dog moms are moms too. Animals also have maternal affection no different from us humans. We all have a history of the same ancestor tens of millions of years ago. One study found that chimpanzees and Rhesus monkeys both share nearly 93% of the DNA of this ancestral species. Based on the differences and similarities between the two types of DNA, the researchers estimated that Rhesus monkeys and humans separated from their common ancestors millions of years ago.
